THE THREE SNAKE LEAVES – hidden wonders

The 200th anniversary of the Brothers Grimm’s magnificent collection of fairy stories is in 2012. To celebrate the anniversary, The Company of Storytellers – Hugh Lupton, Ben Haggarty and Sally Pomme Clayton  – are  recreating their unique piece of  performance storytelling for adults – The Three Snake Leaves. This remixed version will have live music specially composed and performed by exquisite musicians  Dylan Fowler and Gillian Stevens.

This subtle, beguiling, and seamless performance journeys deep into the half-remembered realm of fairytale. The Three Snake Leaves weaves together unknown stories from the Brothers Grimm, retelling them in the light of contemporary values. A primitive world is conjured, taking the listener along twisted tracks, through a tangle of humorous, moving, and cruel stories, in order to find wisdom. The forest is a place where marvels gleam from the shadows, and the mysterious snake leaves bring transformation.
