Subversive stories for bedtime!

Fairytales and myths explode with subversive images of  lust, gender bending, role swapping,  dressing-up and cross-dressing.  In the liminal world of story there are no boundaries, and all forms of desire are possible!

On the 16th and 17th of November ‘Bedtime Story Nights’ at 40 Winks Hotel takes a playful look at the relationship between the sexes, mixing-up male and female, passion and love, with seductive stories from the light-hearted lips of Sally Pomme Clayton and Nell Phoenix. We will tackle the age old battle of the sexes with hilarious and dissident stories. The night is the latest instalment of the 40 Winks ‘Guide to The Perfect Relationship’, and we wonder if we can finally prove that girls really are the superior sex!

‘Bedtime Story Nights‘ were created by the marvellous Mr David Carter at the sublimely seductive 40 Winks Hotel. The nights have been included in the Saturday Times list of the ’60 Best Things To Do In Britain’, have had several Critics Choice awards in Time Out (read about the event here). They have even popped up in a Sunday Times Travel Magazine hot list of the 14 most amazing things to do in the world! The nights are curated by Rachel Rose Reid who carefully selects and puts together storytellers, poets, and artists to enchant and delight.
