{"id":717,"date":"2012-03-15T10:57:04","date_gmt":"2012-03-15T09:57:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sallypommeclayton.com\/blog\/?p=717"},"modified":"2023-06-22T13:48:04","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T12:48:04","slug":"the-world-above-the-world-below","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/makeandbelieve.uk\/?p=717","title":{"rendered":"The World Above &#8211; The World Below"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What happens when two worlds meet our own? <\/strong><br \/><strong> Gods argue, demons fall in love, and earth becomes a playground!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During 2010 I was commissioned by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The British Museum <\/a>to create six interlinked performances inspired by<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;A History of the World in 100 Objects&#8217;<\/a><\/em>project. The performances were based on objects such as:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/objects\/DyfP6g6dRN6WdwdnbIVbPw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mammoth tusk<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/objects\/TnAQ0B8bQkSJzKZFWo6F-g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a stone tablet;<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/objects\/VfupdXVjTM6crACGDU-6uA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mosaic tile<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/objects\/awykYG5tT-2zbY_SlZUufw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fragments of calligraphy<\/a>,&nbsp;and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ahistoryoftheworld\/objects\/cn3fuuQCRC2k27batpa0dg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a bronze statue<\/a>&nbsp;. The performances lasted six hours and spread over a whole year! <em>The World Above &#8211; The World Below<\/em> draws on this research.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The World Above &#8211; The World Below<\/em>&nbsp;weaves together fact and fiction, and the elemental worlds of Roman, Indian and Babylonian mythology.
