{"id":637,"date":"2012-01-14T13:37:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-14T12:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sallypommeclayton.com\/blog\/?p=637"},"modified":"2023-06-22T13:48:48","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T12:48:48","slug":"persephone-at-yohji-making-waves-filming-a-story-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/makeandbelieve.uk\/?p=637","title":{"rendered":"Persephone at Yohji Making Waves &#8211; filming a story"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/makeandbelieve.uk\/?p=352\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Persephone at Yohji Making Waves<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>was a performance given in July 2011 inside Yohji Yamamoto&#8217;s exquisite installation at&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewappingproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wapping Project<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installation &#8211; &#8216;Yohji Making Waves&#8217; &#8211; was a collaboration between:&nbsp;designer Yohji Yamamoto,&nbsp;Wapping Project director Jules Wright, lighting designer Masao Nihei; and musician Billy Cowie. This truly mysterious, mythical installation conjured images of Hades and the River Styx, puberty and desire, fashion and sacrifice, fertility and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the performance I was rowed across the water, as the audience stood on a pier gazing into the cavernous space, listening to the myth of Persephone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the&nbsp;film Fotios Begklis &nbsp;has made, capturing the vast space, &nbsp;light, reflections, immense dress, and fragments of story.
