<\/strong><br \/><strong>Degas depicted women&#8217;s roles <\/strong><br \/><strong>wife and mother, <\/strong><br \/><strong>laundress and ballerina, <\/strong><br \/><strong>mistress, servant, <\/strong><br \/><strong>dutiful daughter. <\/strong><br \/><strong>But H\u00e9l\u00e8ne&nbsp;gazes into the distance. <\/strong><br \/><strong>Beneath her composure <\/strong><br \/><strong>she is dreaming, <\/strong><br \/><strong>desiring. <\/strong><br \/><strong>Does she long <\/strong><strong>to travel to the lands of the objects that surround her?
